It seems like every summer you hear about a child that was severely injured of even killed after being left in a vehicle out in the sun. Often it's because they were in a day care van and was left behind unknowingly by the day care worker. These accidents are inexcusable and when a day care facility or a single worker is negligent and causes harm to your child, you deserve justice.

Guide to Keep Your Kids Safe at Day Care

Whether you are considering a commercial day care center or one in someone's home, you should check it out carefully. Ask questions of the staff. Talk to parents of other children at the day care center. Look over the center carefully. With summer approaching, day cares may be overloaded since the children they care for are now staying there all day rather than a few hours after school.

Here are a few things to think about when choosing a day care to keep your children safe:

How many children are there for each staff member?

The fewer children each staff member is responsible for, the better. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a ratio of one staff person for 3 to 5 small children and one staff member for 7 to 10 older children .
