Update: Ft. Worth Cop Quit before Chief Could Fire

Submitted by jrlaw on Dec 23rd, 2009

Fort Worth Police Officer Jesus Cisneros turned himself in to the police Monday, and was arrested for intoxication manslaughter after he killed Sonia Baker in a car accident earlier this month. He got out of jail on Tuesday after posting a $25,000 bond.

Investigators found Cisneros to be going twice the posted legal speed limit of 35 miles per hour at the time of the crash. He was also driving with a blood alcohol level of twice the legal amount of .08.

FWPD Chief Jeff Halstead told local news stations he was planning on firing Cisneros when he received the officer’s resignation.

Our firm, which is representing the Bakers, issued a statement to CBS-11.  “This is still a sad and tragic circumstance, and we are going to go to the ends of the earth to make sure anyone responsible is held fully accountable.”
