Fenproporex Weight-Loss Recall Attorney

Submitted by jrlaw on Mar 23rd, 2009

The Food & Drug Administration has expanded its nationwide alert regarding tainted weight loss drugs. These drugs are available over-the-counter, and often list themselves as "herbal," "homeopathic," and "all-natural" - yet many of these products contain unlabeled and undeclared active pharmaceutical ingredients such as:

  1. Fenproporex - A controlled substance not approved for marketing in the United States;
  2. Fluoxetine - An antidepressant available by prescription only;
  3. Bumetanide - A potent diuretic available by prescription only;
  4. Furosemide - A potent diuretic available by prescription only;
  5. Rimonabant - A drug not approved for marketing in the United States;
  6. Cetilistat - An experimental obesity drug not approved for marketing in the United States;
  7. Phenytoin - An anti-seizure medication available by prescription only; and
  8. phenolphthalein - A solution used in chemical experiments and a suspected cancer-causing agent that is not approved for marketing in the United States.

The FDA is now looking into product recalls, injunctions, and criminal proceedings to combat these illegal products. In many cases, these tainted products contain undeclared ingredients in great excess for maximum approved dosages - leading to a high-risk for adverse effects. These effects can include high blood pressure, seizures, rapid heartbeat, palpitations, heart attack, stroke, arrhythmia and sudden death. Think you or a loved one has been harmed by these products? Contact the FDA MedWatch program to report your experiences, and then contact Rasansky Law Firm for a review of your legal rights. These "all-natural" drug makers have duped us all - and hopefully without too much harm.
