Three Things that Make You Wreck

Three Things that Make You Wreck

Car wrecks happen all the time. If you've ever wondered why wrecks happen, here are three common causes of car crashes.

1. Poor Maintenance

Your vehicle is a complex machine. It has a lot of different systems, and some of those systems are made up of hundreds of different individual parts. They have to be maintained. Everything from the windshield washer fluid to the brake pads have to be in the proper condition to allow for safe driving. This doesn't always cost a lot of money. For example, you can learn to change your own windshield wipers, check your own tires and other small tasks, even if you aren't mechanically inclined. Most mechanics, in fact, will probably give you some pointers.

2. Inattentive Driving

You have to pay attention to the road when you're driving. If you're talking to someone, don't look at them while talking.Keep your eyes on the road. It's hard to imagine, sometimes, how far you travel in the second or two you take your eyes off the road to look at your radio, a passenger, your phone or anything else. At the very least, you should make sure that you're watching out for the other drivers out there who aren't paying attention as there are plenty of them.

3. Shadowing in Blind Spots

If you're going to pass someone on a four-lane road, you should do it as quickly as you would on a two-lane road. Unless they turn their head, the other driver cannot see you, and most drivers almost never turn their heads before changing lanes. If you're in that other lane, there's a good chance you're going to get sideswiped.

A little bit of patience, attentiveness, and courtesy go a long way on the highways. Unfortunately, not all drivers exhibit any of the above.

If a negligent driver causes you to get into a wreck, be sure you speak with a Dallas auto accident lawyer. Filing a lawsuit is not an automatic payday, but a good lawyer can make sure that you have the best chances of winning. An accident attorney with experience will recognize the signs of a negligent driver and will be able to help you put together a claim that could win you compensation. You may also receive a settlement.
